World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item allows players to increase the gear score of an item to 700, and then add a final perk. Items can be upgraded if they're in your inventory and you bring them to the Kiln.
item upgrader can be upgraded to benefit from their unique stats (like a perfectly rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) while others like weapons don't change much post upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also have an unchanging bonus that increases the damage they deal per second. In addition some weapons come with an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon is present on a unit. In some instances, this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon can sustain by itself.
The cost of upgrading a weapon's capabilities is contingent on the nature of the weapon as well as its current level. For example, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue to increase until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which the number will be reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons can also alter the stats of the base. This is generally a positive thing, but it can also have negative effects. In the case of items that are only used in a specific build (Whistant's shield for FB Sorcs, for example) upgrading them can make them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely lucky roll.
The ability to upgrade armor items to increase their effectiveness. For example, if you upgrade a helm or chest, this will increase its defense base while gloves and belts improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor offers a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it can sometimes reroll down to a lower value.
The upgrade template for a weapon will display the new stats that it will gain upon upgrading and their respective values. This means that an upgrade from a sword that has 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in the weapon gaining 3% of attack damage. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will be hit three times less, since it is an absolute number.
A weapon can also be rerolled using the green button that has circling arrows in the menu for items. This will reroll the item and alter its stats but it won't reset the weapon's level or bind to account status.
Armor
Making a few improvements to your armor can make a huge differences in your capacity to withstand. Certain sets offer massive boosts to poison, curse, fire and magic resistance, which can make it easier to navigate through tough terrain. In general, the greater defense you have on your character, the more health you will receive from each point. Therefore, it's a good idea to upgrade your armor.
To upgrade your armor, go to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four in total each of which requires you to complete a special side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed your main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels and the amount of materials and Rupees required for each will vary. In general, you'll need at anywhere between three Red Chuchu Jellies and ten Rupees for the initial upgrade, then anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent one. For instance the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep pace with a decent-sized group of enemies in the majority of cold environments and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded to +20 defense, providing the protection needed to survive the full-on assault with a few of your friends.
Be aware that armor can't be upgraded in the same manner as weapons, so you'll need to focus on upgrading it to gain physical power if you're Warrior or Spell Power in the case of a Mage. It is recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you'll still wear by the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you wear in the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
You can also get some perks for your armor by presenting the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades to the weapon you'll use to beat the game. For example, the Longsword or Battleaxe. However, it's beneficial to have some upgrades for the chest armor and helmets to allow you to sneak around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are substances in bottles that, if consumed, give the player an effect on their status for a short period of time. There are five kinds of potions, each having a specific set of effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded, increasing the effectiveness of their effects. You can also enhance the effects of certain potions by adding glowstone dust and redstone.
Upgrades to potion cost a certain amount of XP. This can be earned by making them on a crafting table or in the chest of the Alchemist. The cost of upgrading varies based on the type of potion used and the item's Rarity and Mark Level.
To upgrade a potion, click right on it in your inventory and choose the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open an GUI where you can select the potion you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll give you when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at once, and their XP will be added to the total amount of XP you have.
When a poton is upgraded and stored, it will not degrade in the event that you make use of it again or break the bottle in which it is stored. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to rename it.
Version 1.7.2 introduced a few changes to the mechanics of potions. The upgrade vendors can be found in major cities and in the capital of each zone, and in some cases, dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased with gold, tokens or fragments of a rare trinket.
Upgrades to trinkets are a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a new one. You can upgrade their trinket for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same level of base as the old trinket but will also have an additional 1% bonus upgrade.
Trinkets can be upgraded when they're no longer needed and allows players to increase their power and worth over time. They can also be traded between players which makes them an extremely popular alternative to gold.
In general players should make upgrades to their highest priority items first. This typically means the top-of-the-line items for their class, followed by their secondaries, and finally other pieces of gear that will not be replaced soon (for example an earring or cloak). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when deciding which items to upgrade. For example, if Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for a tank it is recommended that they upgrade their helm, chest shoulders, belt, and chest.
After they've become unusable trinkets are able to be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket has an additional 1% bonus. However, a re-upgrade is likely to ruin the previous trinket until it is saved using a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, but is still less expensive than buying the new one.
